Home base for the international recording label ‘Australian Sun Records’, Pegasus Studios has produced in excess of one hundred albums, with sales of over one million units. In November of 2004 the Pegasus recorded ‘Perfect Pearl’ was awarded an Australian ARIA for the ‘Best World Music’ album of that year. The album, by Thursday Islander, Seaman Dan was engineered and co-produced by studio owner Nigel Pegrum. Nigel himself has received many awards over the years including five UK Gold and seven Silver albums, as well as Queensland Recording Association awards for ‘Best Producer’, Best Engineer, ‘Album of the Year’, and ‘Best Indigenous Album of the Year’.

The studio has recently re-located to leafy Whitfield, on the hillside overlooking Cairns and Trinity Inlet. The location is perfect as a getaway, creating a relaxed atmosphere within a professional working environment. The studio is fully Pro-Tools equipped, but also has ADAT and Tascam DA88 and 38 machines. Microphones include Neuman, AKG, Beyer and Shure. A wide range of outboard equipment is available and monitoring is through Tannoy Golds, Yamaha NS10s and Behringer Truths.The recording environment will accommodate six musicians comfortably and the control room allows plenty of space for keyboards etc.
